Concentrator

There are a couple of NMEA concentrators on the market. Some do do what is required, some dont. Some do bits others do other bits. I had envisiond a concentrator with the following characteristics.

Several input channels. ( 4? ) with RS232 compatibility on one channel.

Network capability - What I mean is serial to ethernet. This way a modern laptop can read in as much serial as you want and you can still multidrop more tchnology into the system

Seatalk capability

NMEA 2000 capability possibility

That's the hardware.
The software should provide filtering, routing and prioritizing facilities.
It should have a simple UI to allow 'man in the street' control of these facilities.

I had selected a rabbit core based board since they have lots of serial IO capability, built in ethernet support and a multitasking OS.
